a5c7b9f00b After their small Australian country town is annihilated by an overwhelming airborne attack, a group of civilians evade capture and discover they are now among the last remaining survivors of an extraterrestrial invasion engulfing the entire planet. As humanity falls under world-wide occupation, they form a home-grown army to fight back against vastly superior enemy forces. On the front lines of the battle for Earth, they are our last hope. A small group of town residents have to band together after a devastating ground invasion. As they struggle to survive, they realize they must stay one step ahead of their attackers, and work together for a chance to strike back. This movie is Australian propaganda, but mostly intended for self-consumption: an echo chamber. Even though we're told that the rest of the world is also affected by this alien invasion, it is entirely excluded from the movie,if Australia *is* the world. This movie was an attempted counterpoint - albeit a poor one - to the innumerable alien invasion movies wherein heroic ***insert some other nationality here*** save the world.

The only value to watching this movie is a part of a larger study of how nationalism -one form of tribalism - affects human behavior. The movie was great!. The cinematography, the acting, the costuming, and the whole job was so very well done.

Good on you Luke Sparke and team. It'll be interesting to see the Occupation 2 movie. The movie’s derivative but lively and has a surprising scope.
